Bass Guitar & VocalsBorn and raised in Redruth, married to his understanding wife, Tracy. Together they live in Redruth with their three lovely children: Sara Bethany and Adam.
History He started his music career in 1993 after buying an old guitar amp, some party lights, two cd players and a little mixer. This equipment was used for his neighbour’s 60th birthday party which was enjoyed by family and friends. Word swiftly got around that Rob did an awesome disco and soon after where ever there was a family party, Rob was playing the music to entertain. Rob first started to play the guitar after he loaned his bass speakers to a local band who were practicing one Saturday afternoon. The band inspired Rob to go out and buy his first guitar, a 1986 Fender Squier Strat. Rob was a staff member with Redruth Air Cadets and it wasn’t long before he had a group of them playing instruments and forming a band called the KADETZ. The Kadetz played at the open evenings and a couple of charity events and of course, family parties. In 2002, Rob started working with his brother, Richard at Truro College. This is where they met Antonio who could play a guitar just like a ringing a bell. The three of them got together for a few jam sessions and after calling on Adrian (Rob’s mate) to play drums, the band FLIPSIDE was born.
Equipment Rob plays a 76 reissue Fender Jazz Bass in a natural finish and uses Robert’s Flat Wound strings. This goes through a 75 watt Ashton bass combo. The sound is great and is loud enough for most of the venues played.
Musical Influences Madness, UB40, Bob Marley and any other Ska or Reggae music.
